August R-12 Ride - New Jersey Transit 200k Permanent

The first weekend in August delivered a nice enough day to undertake the R-12 ride.  I was scheduled to travel to Canada for two weeks on the Sunday.  Leaving Saturday as the sole opportunity to get it done.  The day was warm and dry but not as oppressive as some of the rides in July.  Al joined me for a 7am start from Hillsborough.  With as many times as I've ridden this route the hills don't get even a little bit easier, which keeps it interesting and fun.  After 11 hours and 23 minutes we were back at our starting point.  I would depart for points north the next day without having the R-12 to worry about (see next post about bike mechanic school).
Al crests one of the many climbs on the NJT Route
Next ride:  Englewood, NJ  300k.  September 5th
